Google's CEO has announced that its artificial intelligence Bard will receive an update at the beginning of April.

The arrival of ChatGPT-3 in November led some media to wonder if the AI could dethrone Google's famous information search engine. Despite this, the company was already working on its own tool, which was recently launched in beta among Pixel Superfans.

Although early feedback on Bard is positive, some claim that it still does not outperform ChatGPT-4, especially on questions that require logical solutions. However, Pichai assures that the tool will be improved soon and will be able to compete with the one used in Microsoft Bing.

Pichai announced that the Bard update will include enhancements in reasoning, coding and solving mathematical problems. The tool became available to users on March 21 and the update is expected to be available during the first half of April.

Google employee Jack Krawczyk has confirmed that the update will improve Bard's understanding and response in multi-step math and word problems, and that coding will also be coming soon.

As for competition with ChatGPT, Pichai notes that. no order was issued to accelerate Bard's development in response to its rival's popularity. In addition, he acknowledges that there is a debate about the need to regulate the advancement of artificial intelligence technology, and believes it is important to listen to concerns and have a debate about it.
