OpenAI prepares to launch GPT-5 by the end of 2023

OpenAI launched an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot late last year, but it was with version 3.5 in the fall that it became popular. Since then, the company has been training the system and in March announced an update, ChatGPT-4, that improved the AI's ability to generate original content, as well as collaborate with users on editing and redoing tasks, such as composing songs or scripts.

According to the newspaper Gizmochinarumors have begun to leak out about the development of the ChatGPT-5which some say could be completed by end of 2023. If this date is met, the new version of AI could achieve 'Artificial General Intelligence' (AGI), which would mean that it would have the same capabilities of a person to perform tasks and would be virtually indistinguishable.

Although the company has not spoken publicly about the project, a tweet from developer Siqi Chen indicates that there is a possibility that GPT-5 will achieve AGI. This could improve productivity and speed up repetitive jobs performed by users. The newspaper adds that there is likely to be a intermediate version of ChatGPT prior to GPT-5, and that OpenAI expects to release ChatGPT-4.5 in September or October of this year.
